Urooj Music: A Story of Faith, Friendship, and Music Without Borders

Urooj Music: A Story of Faith, Friendship, and Music Without Borders

Some partnerships begin as business connections. Others begin with a single instrument and an open heart. The story of Urooj Music and Music International Organization began in 2014, with a shared love for music—and a ukulele.

When Sunny, founder of Urooj Music Store in Shimla, India, first met Jeff, founder of Music International Organization, the connection was immediate. What started as a simple moment of playing and talking about the ukulele soon revealed something deeper: a shared belief that music is a gift meant to be used in service of others.

One Instrument, One Calling

The ukulele became more than just an instrument that day—it became a symbol. As Sunny and Jeff exchanged stories, chords, and laughter, they discovered a common calling: to use music as a way to bring healing, hope, and dignity to people across cultures.

That small, humble instrument reflected the heart of their mission. Simple, accessible, and full of joy, the ukulele mirrored their belief that music does not need to be complicated to be powerful—it simply needs to be offered with love.

Urooj Music and a Ministry of Restoration

From that meeting forward, Sunny continued shaping Urooj Music into a place where music serves people, not just markets. Through mentoring marginalized youth, supporting creative rehabilitation in recovery centers, and building inclusive community spaces, Urooj Music lives out faith in action.

Music becomes a language of restoration—helping young people rediscover their God-given identity and purpose through creativity and connection.

A Global Partnership Rooted in Faith

Today, Music International Organization is honored to share Urooj Music’s story with the world. The collaboration between Sunny and Jeff stands as a testimony to how God uses simple beginnings—sometimes as simple as a ukulele—to build bridges across nations.

The images shared from the field capture real moments of service, where music is not performed for applause, but offered as a gift of hope.

Many Voices, One Mission

From Shimla to the global community connected through Music International, the mission remains the same: to let music become a vessel of healing, unity, and faith in action.

What began with a ukulele continues as a growing movement—one that reminds us that when music is placed in God’s hands, it can reach hearts far beyond what we imagine.
